Jump Rope for Heart

Wow!  It has been awhile since my last post.  Things have been a little hectic around here the last two weeks.  Baseball season is underway and we have been consumed with it!  First take in consideration that Chad is the Asst. Baseball Commissioner and we have had to organize teams, jersey sizes, sponsors, numbers, email schedules and other correspondence, plus we have had baseball practice 5 days a week between both boys (Chad coaching), Awanas on Wednesdays, WORK, PTA stuff, etc, has not left time for much else.   Luckily we have been able to spend a few fun evenings with friends, the boys have had sleep overs and been back and forth between friends homes and Christian went to two really fun birthday parties.

Saturday was Jump Rope for Heart.  Christian has participated in this event the past three years and really loves the opportunity to show off his skills while helping to make a difference in the life of someone who does not have as healthy a heart.  We spent over two hours in the school gym on Saturday watching Christian jump rope and play basketball to raise money for the American Heart Assocation.

 They do a great job of making it fun for the kids by breaking it up by jump rope style and having little friendly competitions for prizes.  Christian was quite proud he left with 4 prizes.  Unfortunately the frog that's eye bulges out when you squeeze it did not last too long.  We had to throw it out the window on the way home because someone squeezed the bulging eye a little to hard and red liquid exploded all over my car...lovely.

I guess this next event was capture the flag or flag basketball.  The boys had to dribble the basketball around the court and try to take the flags off other kids while hoping no one gets theirs in the process. As more and more students are taken out the boundaries get smaller and smaller. Here Jackson and Christian are using what we like to call....strategerey!

The boys first games were scheduled for tonight but Carson's has already been rescheduled and I have a feeling after the storms last night and the way the wind is howling this morning that Christian's game will be cancelled too.  Looking forward to seeing the kids on the baseball diamond.  Stay tuned!
